On May 4, mayors and parliamentarians participating in the 2005 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference, either as observers or members of their government delegations, participated in a roundtable to discuss initiatives they are taking orcould take for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
The roundtable, hosted by the Parliamentary Network for Nuclear Disarmament and Mayors for Peace, involved Senator Patrik Vankrunklesven (Belgium), Chris Balance (Member of the Scottish Parliament), Senator Abacca Anjain-Madison (Marshall Islands),Tetsushi Inoue MP (Japan), Tadatoshi Akiba (Mayor of Hiroshima and President of Mayors for Peace), and a delegation of 15 – 20 mayors from around the world.
