Alyn
Ware is the International Coodinator of the Parliamentary
Network for Nuclear Disarmament ( PNND
), a program of the Global Security Institute.
Previously, he served as Executive Director of
the Lawyers' Committee on Nuclear Policy and the
UN Coordinator for the World Court Project, which
led the effort to achieve a ruling from the International
Court of Justice on the legality of the threat
or use of nuclear weapons. In addition to his
numerous leadership positions within the peace
and security field, he is co-author with Merav
Datan of "Security and Survival: The Case for
a Nuclear Weapons Convention", and with Annie
Doherty of "Our Planet in Every Classroom", and
has written numerous articles.
Senator
Douglas Roche, O.C.
Chair, Middle Powers Initiative
Former Canadian Disarmament Ambassador
Author, parliamentarian and diplomat, Douglas
Roche was appointed to the Senate of Canada on
September 17th, 1998. Previously, he was elected
to the Canadian Parliament four times, serving
from 1972 to 1984 and specializing in development
and disarmament.
Senator
Roche was Canada's Ambassador for Disarmament
from 1984 to 1989. In 1988, he was elected Chairman
of the United Nations Disarmament Committee. Senator
Roche is the author of seventeen books, including "The Human Right to Peace" (Novalis, 2003). He
is affiliated with numerous non-governmental organizations,
including the Middle Powers Initiative and the
Canadian Pugwash, both of which he is presently
chairing. Senator Roche has received numerous
awards and honors for his worldwide peace and
disarmament work, among them the Papal Medal,
the United Nations Association's Medal of Honor,
and six Honorary Doctorates. He is a member of
the Order of Canada and a Knight Commander of
the Order of St. Gregory the Great at the Holy
See.
Jonathan Granoff, President of the Global Security
Institute, is also Co-Chair of the American Bar
Association's Committee on Arms Control and National
Security. He is Vice President of the NGO
Committee on Disarmament at the UN, and serves
on numerous governing and advisory boards including
the Lawyers Committee on Nuclear Policy, the Lawyers
Alliance for World Security, the Jane Goodall
Institute, the Bipartisan Security Group, and
the Middle Powers Initiative. Mr. Granoff
has lectured worldwide emphasizing the legal,
ethical and spiritual dimensions of human development
and security, with a specific focus on the threats
posed by nuclear weapons. He is an award-winning
screenwriter, and has been featured in more than
30 publications. He has practiced law in
Philadelphia as an individual practitioner, in
several medium sized firms, and as in-house counsel
in a public company.
Matthew Werner is a Program Officer for the Global
Security Institute. Matt holds a B.S. in Economics
from Villanova University, cum laude. Previously
he worked for Mathematica Policy Research in Princeton,
NJ, as a Program Associate where he worked on
projects for the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment
& Training Agency.

Sophie
holds degrees in both economics and political
science and will soon be awarded a MPhil in
conflict management from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan
University, South Africa. She is the co-founder
of BANg (Ban All Nukes generation, a European
youth network and has previously worked for NGOs
in the field of peace, human rights and social
work. She is trilingual in English, French
and Spanish.
