The regime was established formally by the G-7 states on April 16, 1987. It controls the proliferation of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles (one capable of delivering at least 500 kg to a range of 300 km or more).
Members: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russian Federation, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The following states have pledged to abide by MTCR guidelines: China, Israel, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
